2[x-(4+2x)+3] = 2x + 2

combine like terms in [ ] so 2[-x-1] = 2x + 2

distribute the 2 on the left

-2x-2 = 2x + 2

subtract 2x from both sides

-4x - 2 = 2

add 2 to both sides

-4x = 4

divide both sides by -4 and x = -1
