Area of square
= area of rectangle
= length of rectangle * breadth of rectangle
= 16m * 9m
= 144m^2

Side of square
= sqrt(144m^2)
= 12m

Perimeter of rectangle
= 16m + 16m + 9m + 9m
= 50m

Perimeter of square
= 12m + 12m + 12m + 12m
= 48m

50m - 48m = 2m, so the perimeter of the rectangle exceeded that of the square by 2m.
