x=y+3 2x-y=5
Solvine Linear Systems by Substitution

x = y + 3
2x - y = 5

2x - y = 5
2(y + 3) - y = 5

2y + 6 - y = 5
y = 5 - 6
y = -1

x = y + 3
x = -1 + 3
x = 2

2x - y = 5
2(2) - (-1) = 5
4 + 1 = 5
5 = 5
