If a = 1 then instead of writing this:

ax^2 + bx + c

You can just put this:

x^2 + bx + c

If you're asking how to solve it, do you mean "how do I factor ax^2 + bx + c" or do you mean "how do I solve for x with ax^2 + bx + c = 0" or something else?
