x - 5y = 16 --- (1)
4x - 3y = 26 --- (2)

From (1), we have: x = 5y + 16 ---- (3)

Substituting (3) into (2), we will get:

4(5y + 16) - 3y = 26
20y + 64 - 3y = 26
17y + 64 = 26
17y = 26 - 64
17y = -38
y = -38 / 17

Substituting y = -38 / 17 into (3), we will get:

x = 5(-38/17) + 16
x = 82 / 17

Hence, x = 82 / 17 and y = -38 / 17
