the width =x

the length = 3x-5

the area=x(3x-5)=50

3x^2-5x-50=0

(3x+10)(x-5)=0

3x+10=0

x=-10/3 (doesn't work, because negative)

x-5=0

x=5yd(the width)

15-5=10yd(the length)
