(8 & 1/2) - (3 & 5/8)

=(8 & 4/8) - (3 & 5/8)

=(68/8) - (29/8)

=(68-29)/8

MAKE IT THE SAME DENOMINATOR

8 4/8-3 5/8 is 4 7/8

for division problem turn the fractions to improper fraction

that is 7/4 and 19/12

then find reciprocal of the second fractions and change divide to multiply

7/4 * 12/19= 84/76 =1 8/76=1 2/19
