The question is: "the sum of 8 plus 3 times the number of cookies i baked is the same as 18 less than 5 times the number of cookies I baked" .  Need the equation and how to solve it... not sure if the equation above in the question sentence is correct.  Thanks!

Close the left hand side is backward

8 + 3c = 5c - 18 no x use c on both sides c as in COOKIES.

8 + 18 = 5c - 3c

2c = 26

c = 13
