i need help finding the y intercept of the line whose slope is 3 passing through points (1,-2)

The general equation is y = mx + b.
Re-work that equation to find b.
b = y - mx

b = -2 - 3(1)
b = -2 - 3
b = -5

Answer: the y-intercept is -5.
