Synthetic division:

3 | 1 0 -10    2      3

     1 3    9   -3 |   -3

     1 3   -1   -1 |   0 remainder; x3+3x2-x-1

Algebraic long division:

        x3+3x2    -x        -1

x-3 ) x4+0x3-10x2+2x+3

        x4-3x3

             3x3-10x2

             3x3  -9x2

                      -x2+2x

                      -x2+3x

                             -x +3

                             -x +3

                                 0

     Both results concur: x3+3x2-x-1.
