Number the equations:

(1) 2x-y+z=1

(2) x+2y-4z=3

(3) 4x+3y-7z=-8

(4) 2×(1)+(2): 5x-2z=5

(5) 3×(1)+(3): 10x-4z=-5

(6) 2×(4) is 10x-4z=10, but 10x-4z=-5, so the equations are inconsistent, so there cannot be a solution.
