solve one side for y, the second equation looks easier to solve for y.

-2x +y =8  add 2x on both sides

y= 8 + 2x  plug this into y for the first equation

3x + 2 (8 + 2x) = 2 multiply out the 2

3x + 16 + 4x = 2  combin like terms

16+7x =2 subtract 16 from both sides

7x = -14

x = -2 is one answer,  take this number and plug it in to the equation to get the y value as well.
