my maths teacher told me this and im not understanding how?

3x+4=2x       (he said -2 both sides)?  could you explain this please?

x+4=0 or 6   (cannot read writing!)

yes you can do -2x on both sides it doesnt matter if you -2 to both sides itwould look like this (note you have to subtract 2x not just 2)

x+4 = 0

now you have to subtract 4 from both sides to get x by itself

x = -4

think of it this way long as you get the variable on one side and the number on the other side it doesnt matter if the variable is on the left or the right the answer will always be the same

it doesnt matter how you do it, just always focus on getting the variable alone on one side you can do that by either subtracting 2 then subtracting 4 or just  subtracting 3 and dividing by -1 usually you take the route that involves the least amount of work but both lead to the same answer
