x^2+x-3y-2=0 become 3y=x^2 +x-2... so y=(1/3)*(x^2+x-2)=(1/3)(x-1)(x+2)... kerv hav y=0 at x=1 & x=-2... dy/dx=(1/3)(2x+1) & this=0 at x=-1/2...bottom av the kerv... parabola go up, with axis=x=-1/2
