[12/(12-14+4)]*2 =24/2 =12

Ah Ha, you cannot pick and choose which terms inside the parentheses you will multiply by the 2. You MUST multiply ALL three of them: the 6, the 7 AND the 4. You neglected to do that, so your answer is wrong.
as multiplication can be expressed in various ways as with an x, a dot, brackets or nothing at all, I see the above as a single factor that could alternately be expressed as 12 / 2x(3)(2) Or (2)(3)(2) or 12/12 The extra x throws you off. Why would one assume it remains in the nominator less the equation have proper additional bracketing? (12/(2(6-7+4))*2 now = 4 12/(2(6-7+4)*2) now = 1 (12/2) * (3)*(2)= 36? yuk no engineering here, just cause most people say so, doesn't mean squat .

in maths theory  we need to done first addition subtraction then multiplication finally division

12 ÷ 2 (6 - 7 +4) x2

12 ÷ 2 (-1 +4) x2

12 ÷ 2 (+3) x2

12 ÷ 6x2

12 ÷ 12

12 ÷2(6-7+4) x2=? Remember to use the sentence, "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally". P= Parenthesis (6-7+4). When you do what is in the parenthesis first you are left with 3. 12÷2(3)x2. The next part is Excuse which is exponents. We do not have any to worry about so we move on to "My" which is for Multiplication. Multiplication includes division. We move from left to right. 12÷2 6(3)x2 18 x 2 = 36

12/2(6-7+4)x2=X

12/2(3)x2=X

12/6x2=X

2x2=X

4=X

Main question her : How do you work with implicit multiplication ?

Question :

- do you consider that implicit multiplication include a grouping intention or not ?

Depending of the answer to that question, there is 2 possibilities:

- grouping intention : 12/2(6-7+4)*2 = 12/(2*(6-7+4))*2 = ... = 4

- no grouping interntion : 12/2(6-7+4)*2 = (12/2)*(6-7+4)*2 = ... = 36
