could swear i just did this problem

according to order of operations you do what is in the parenthesis first:

4(-2)+5= -3

now rewrite it:

3x + 2 - 3  now substitute -2 for x

-6 + 2 - 3 now since its all add/subtract according to order of operations we just go from left to right

-4 - 3 = -7

-7 is your answer

i made a mistake, when you rewrite it, its

3x +2 - -3, i didnt see that first -

-6 + 2 + 3 since the minuses cancel out

-1 is your real answer
