prove that: m=y/x-b/x

Q-8. Prove that          M        =          y/x-b/x.

Ans.

Two separate points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) establish a straight line.

The point (x, y) is an arbitrary point on the line

The slope, m. of this line is defined as “rise over run.” Or

M =     y – y1               = x – x1 (M)     =          y – y1   x  x – x1

            x – x1                                                   x – x1

                                    = Mx – Mx1     =           y – y1

= Mx + y1– Mx1     =    y – y1 + y1

even b is defined as (y1 – Mx1)

Then                            Mx + b            =          y

Mx +bb        =          y -b

                                                Mx/x                =          (y – b)/x

So Equation prove is

M                     =          y/x – b/x
