I am 40 and it hs been 25 years since I have had to make sense of this. HELP

think about the graphign the equality

x = -5y

 

this is a line that divides the space into two regions, one region on each side of the line.

 

the inequality must be one of the two regions.  in one region, x > -5y, and in the other, x < -5y.  check a few points to confirm which region is correct.

 

then shade the entire region in.

 

this is your graph of the inequality - an entire region is shaded in that satisfies x > -5y.
