I need to show the work for the problem.

3/4 + 5/8

My answer was 11/8 but it says the answer is 1 3/8 and I do not understand what I did wrong so I need to see this problem walked through.

11/8 is the same as 1 3/8 its just a mixed number instead of just a fraction. take  8 out of the numerator and you have 3 left. the 8 you took out is 8/8 which is 1
