8=3^7x-1 

I am taking this as 

image.  If this assumption is not correct, please tell me and i will correct the answer.  

Taking logs of both sides of this, using log base 10, gives image

Using log laws, this can become 

image

Dividing both sides by log 3 gives

image

Then, simply divide both sides by 7 then add 1 to both sides to become image
