to solve this just let's say that the number we are looking for is x so we can put this into an equation.  Add 5

x+5

If the problem says "add 5 and then Multiply by 10 you would have to write that this way

10(x+5)

answer is 630 means = 630

10(x+5)=630

Then solve for x.  Distrubute the 10

10x+50=630

subtract 50

10x=580

divide by 10

x=58

Depending on exactly how the question is wiritten you might write it this way instead

10x+5=630 and x would be 62.5

I would show your teacher both ways and see what she wants.  The question is confusing.
