Problem: 3x=22+2y 5y=2x
3x=22+2y
5y=2x

3x = 22 + 2y
5y = 2x

5y = 2x
5y/5 = 2x/5
y = 2/5 x

3x = 22 + 2y
3x = 22 + 2(2/5 x)
3x = 22 + 4/5 x
3x - 4/5 x = 22 + 4/5 x - 4/5 x
2 1/5 x = 22
11/5 x = 22
(11/5 x) * (5/11) = 22 * (5/11)
x = 10

y = 2/5 x
y = 2/5 (10)
y = 4

Check.

3x = 22 + 2y
3(10) = 22 + 2(4)
30 = 22 + 8
30 = 30

Answer: x = 10, y = 4
