x^2 + 3x  - 2 you need to factor

use quadratic equation where a = 1, b = 3 and c = -2

[-b +or- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)]/2a

[-3 +or- sqrt(3^2 - 4(1)(-2))]/2(1) =

[-3 +or- sqrt(9 + 8)]/2 =

[-3 +or- sqrt(17)]/2
