1: 7,8,9,10,11,12...

2: 16, 27, 38, 49, ?60?

The answer is 40.  The pattern is this:

first number (7), disregard.

second number (16) is half of third # (8);

fourth # (27) is 1/3 of fifth # (9)

sixth # (next in the series) would be 1/4 the seventh # (10).  So the sixth number is 40.

You can also do this as: (third #)*(2) = (second #); (fifth #)*(3) = (fourth #); (seventh #)*(4) = (sixth)     -      8*2=16; 9*3=27, 10*4=40

Answer is 40.  Pattern is dual pairs, x and f(x) where f(x) = n*x+n (or n(x+1)) for x=7, f(x) = 16 (n = 2); for x = 8, f(x) = 27 (n = 3); etc.

There is a pattern

n0 = 7 (the first digit)

n1 = (7x2=14+2=16)

n2 = (16/2=8)

n3 = (8x3=24+3=27)

n4 = (27/3=9)

n5 = (9x4=36+4=40)

The Answer is 40
