Here is the example for ratios....
 
Example : Find the ratio between 5 dogs and 15 cats?
 
Solution:
 
Number of dogs = 5
 
Number of cats = 15
 
Ratio = 5/15 or 5 to 15 or 5: 15
 
= 1/3 or 1 to 3 or 1: 3.
 
Ratios are basically mathematical fractions expressed differently. In math, ratios express the volume of quantities relative to each other. Specifically, the ratio of two quantities indicates how many times the first quantity is contained in the second and may be expressed algebraically as their quotient.
 
There are several methods which helps how to solve ratios and it will be more easy when you start practicing on the topic.
