We have 2 unknowns so we need 2 equations. Let s be the number of Smarties and r be the number of Reeses.

1) s + r = 25  or s = 25 - r

2) 15s + 75r = 1515

substitute eq(1) into eq(2):

15(25 - r) + 75r = 1515

375 - 15r + 75r = 1515

60r = 1140

r = 1140/60 = 19

using eq(1):

s = 25 - 19 = 6

check using eq(2):

15(6) + 75(19) = 1515

90 + 1425 = 1515

1515 = 1515

There are 6 Smarties and 19 Reeses in the bag.
