a person who is five feet tall is standing 108 ft, from the base of a tree, and the tree casts a 120 foot shadow. The persons shadow is 12 feet in length. What is the height of the tree?

The person:shadow ratio should be the same as the tree:shadow ratio.

5:12 should be the same ratio as tree height:120

Notice that the tree shadow is 10 times as long as the person shadow.

To keep the ratios the same, the tree height should be 10 times the person height.

5:12 is the same as 50:120

The tree is 50 feet tall.
