Started off with the word problem.  A plane flies 400 miles with the wind and 300 miles against the wind in the same length of time.  If the speed of the wind is 24 mph, what is the speed of the plane in still air?

T = Time  X=Speed

Must use system of equations.

T(X+24)=400 - with the wind equation

T(X-24)=300 - against the wind equation

plane fli at konstant speed relativ tu aer=plane

& flie same time with wind & aginst wind

with wind...(plane+24)*time=400

ginst wind (plane-24)*time=300

time=(delta distans=100 miles)/ 24 mph=4.166 ours

plane speed=(plane distans=700miles) / 4.166 ours=168 mph

plane go 7 times as far as wind push it

so plane speed=7*24=168
