To find the length of the rectangle if the perimeter & width are given,

simply subtract:          34 inches  -  ( 2  x  5 inches )  

                                 =  34 inches  -  10  inches    =    24 inches

then divide:               =   24 inches  /   2     (width)     =     12 inches is each length
