2x^2+4x+2=3

can you solve this in both the quadradic formula and by completing the square.  I have done both, but my answers do not match each other.

2x^2 +4x -1=0

x=0.2247449 or -2.2247449

-b/2a=-1

b^2 -4ac=24, root(240+4.898979486

root/2a=1.224744871391
