x-19=3*(x-11)

x-19=3x-33

x-3x=-33+19=-14

-2x=-14

x=7

dist from 11=11-7=4

dist from 19=19-7=12

****** perhaps hav nuther point rite side av 19 ????

there are two numbers that are 3 times as far from 19 as they are from 11, what is sum of the two
solve problem

The first number is the obvious one:
19 - x = 3(11 - x)
19 - x = 33 - 3x
2x = 14
x = 7

The second one, if you think about it, has to be BETWEEN 11 and 19.
The fact that the distance from x to 19 is 3 times the distance
from 11 to x means that the distance from 11 to 19 is 4 times
the distance from 11 to x.

11 + x + 3x = 19
11 + 4x = 19
4x = 19 - 11
4x = 8
x = 8/4
x = 2

The second number is 11 + 2 = 13, which is 19 - (3 * 2), 19 - 6 = 13

Therefore, the two numbers are 7 and 13

The sum of the two numbers is 7 + 13 = 20
