3X + 2Y = 23

Y = 1/2 X - 4 <---- multiply by 2

2Y = X - 8 <---- apply to the first equation

3X + x - 8 = 23

4X = 31

X = 7 3/4 <---- apply to the 2nd equation

2Y = 7 3/4 - 8

2Y = -1/4

Y = -1/8
