I am really trying to understand PEMDAS and how to correctly use it on a problem. If I seen it at work it would help.

just take 7 x11-42 and get the answer for that then you would do the ( ) and get the answer for that then divide i got the answer 39 if you do it on a scientific calculator you can easily do the problems

Do in order: PEMDAS

1: Parentheses

2: Exponents

3: Multiplication

4: Division

5: Addition

6: Subtraction

Do problem from left to right.

 

7x11-42+(23-3)/5

7x11-42+3/5

77-42+3/5

77-42+0.6

35+0.6

There's your real answer....Im in Pre-AP classes so it wasnt hard to get but you'll get the hang of it.
