Grandmother gives four grandchildren money, first one 4/9,
second one 1/3, third one 1/6 and the fourth one $15.00.
How much money did the grandmother give them

Convert all of the fractions so they have a common denominator.

4/9 = 8/18
1/3 = 6/18
1/6 = 3/18

Add them: 8/18 + 6/18 + 3/18 = 17/18

We find that there is 1/18 left over. That would be the $15
given to the fourth grandchild.

The first child received 8 times that, or $120.
The second received 6 * $15, or $90.
The third rreceived 3 * $15, or $45.
As stated, the fourth received $15.

The total is $120 + $90 + $45 + $15 = $270.
