if 3^x=k,

what does 3^2x+1 equal in terms of k?

3^x + 3^x + 1

  k + k + 1

2k + 1

This is an SAT question. The answer is 3k^2. 3^2x+1 is equal to 3^x+x+1= k*k*3, thus 3k^2.
