what is the equation for girls + girls = silly ?

I'm having trouble on this question and I would like if you would explain how to get to the answer   :) thanks

Y=2

S=3

R=5

G=1

I=9

look at the sum of the ten digits L + L = ?L, hence L = 0 or 9; same for the 1000 digits I = 0 or I = 9

so try L = 9 and I = 0 and next L = 0 and I = 9 [both give an answer to the cryptarithm]
