When you talk about pair it is alway 2 pcs.
Ali
2(2) Short + 3(2)Sock = $ 33
4Short + 6 sock = $ 33   call this eq1

Keesha:
1(2) short + 5(2) socks = $ 27
2 Short + 10 Sock = $ 27 call this eq2

multiply eq2 by (-2)
-4 short  - 20 sock = -54
then add this to eq1 →  4Short + 6 sock = $ 33
Result will be :
0 - 14 Sock = - 21
Sock = 21 / 14
Sock = $1.5

Substitute Sock in eq1 → 4Short + 6 sock = $ 33
4short + 6(1.5) = 33
4 Short = 33 - 9
4 Short = 24

Short = $ 6
