Solution :-

Let the 1st number be = x

Let the 2nd number be = y

Therefore, according to the question :-

x + y = 356....(i)

x - y = 120.....(ii)

Change the signs of both the equations : (i) and (ii), we get :

2 y = 476

y = 476 / 2

y = 238

To find the value of x , we simply take up the (i) equation

x + 238 = 356

x = 356 - 238

x = 118

Therefore : x = 118 and y = 238 (answer)
