you have to solve out 4y + x = 24 without putting the x value in, but I don't know how to do that.. When I tried I subtracted 4y from both sides and got x = 24 - 4y...but that is wrong.

4y +x=24

4y=24-x

y=6-(x/4)

wen x=8...y=6-(8/4)

=6-2

y=4
