What you'll do is multiply the number outside the parenthesis by everything in it. so 5 times y and 5 times -4 (keep the sign) then 7 times 2y and 7 times one. You get 5y-20=14y+7 which equals -27=9y this means y=-3

-14y+5y=20+7

-11y=27

y=-27/11(answer)
