One place the notion of factorization and primes is used in everyone's life is in RSA encryption processes. The encryption methods security is based off the fact that it is VERY DIFFICULT to factor a composite number whose prime factorization is two large digit prime numbers.

RSA encryption is used for secure internet comunications.
