Subtracting a negative is adding a positive, so -(-11/12) is + 11/12

-5/8 + 11/12

As with any problem in fractions, convert them to a common denominator.
In this case, that would be 1/24.

Both 3/3 and 2/2 are equal to 1, so the value of each fraction is not changing,
only the way they are presented is changing.

((-5/8) * (3/3))  +  ((11/12) * (2/2)) = -15/24 + 22/24 = 7/24

7/24 can't be reduced, so that is the answer
