2x-y=6...............eq1

2x+2y=-9..........eq2

Equation 1 - equation 2 results in    -3y = 15

Divide both sides by -3 which means y = -5

Substitute y = -5 into Eq 1

2x-(-5)=6    so   2x+5 = 6   so   2x = 1  so x = 1/2.
