x=1st odd integer x+2=2nd odd integer so,x+x+2=83(or)82 2X+2=82 2x=82-2 it is divided by 2 x=40 x+2=42 so answer is40+42=82

41 & 42...sum=83 is not correct. Question says "less than 83"

40+42=82 is not correct. 40+42 are not consecutive integers.

The highest summing pair that meet the questions requirements are 40+41=81

A+B<=82  & A=B+1

A+(A+1)<=82

A<=40.5  but A is an integer so A=40  A+1 =41
