1 Answer

Let * be -x, since both are the same numbers with opposite signs.

We have:

4(-x) + x + 11 = -x + 7
-4x + x + 11 = -x + 7
-3x + 11 = -x + 7
3x - x = 11 - 7
2x = 4
x = 4 / 2
x = 2

* = -x = -2
