3 squared multiplied by 1.625 squared and come up with the answer of 3.412

3 squared multiplied by 1.625 squared does not equal 3.412

Are you sure you've copied the question right?

3 squared divided by 1.625 squared does give an answer close to 3.412, maybe you meant this?

If you did want to do 3 squared divided by 1.625 squared then this could be done by saying:

( (3)² / (1.625)² ) = (3 / 1.625 )²

You can then do the division which will give you:

(3 / 1.625 )² = (1.846)²                       (up to 3 decimal places)

So now:

(1.846)² = 1.846 × 1.846 = 3.4077
