2.7 = 8.1 / p

multiply both sides by p

2.7 * p = (8.1 / p) * p

the p's on the right cancel out

2.7p = 8.1

divide by 2.7 on both sides

2.7p / 2.7 = 8.1 / 2.7

p = 3
