8x - (2x + 7) = 41

8x - 2x - 7 = 41

6x - 7 = 41

Now to get 'x' on it's own you can add 7 to both sides of the equation:

6x - 7 + 7 = 41 + 7

6x = 48

Now we can divide both sides of the equation by 6:

6x/6 = 48/6

x = 8                                This is the solution.   smiley
