To simplify this you need to know the common multiples of both numbers.

54 : 24

So, first we can see that both numbers can be divided by 2. So:

54 : 24

54/2 : 24/2

27 : 12

Now (if you know your multiplication tables wink) you can see that both numbers can be divided by 3. So:

27 : 12

27/3 : 12/3

9 : 4

Now, since 9 and 4 have no other common multiples, this is the answer fully simplified.     smiley
