Compute in two separate parts.

8< 3x + 2 and 3x + 2 <(or equal) 23

8< 3x + 2 becomes 6< 3x and then 2<x or x>2

3x + 2 <(or equal) 23 becomes 3x <(or equal) 21 and then x<(or equal) 7

If you are using interval notation then the answer is (2, 7]
